Ben has an older brother and their mom was very worried about their performance at school. She cut their television time and demanded they read 2 books a week. After a while, their grades shot up dramatically! If reading books regularly can do this, by God's grace, I intend to make sure my children develop a love for reading! In addition, I will try to keep on reading in spite of the challenges of motherhood and also post book reviews from time to time. Below, I answered a few questions about my reading habits.
Do you like reading books?
Yes, I really do.
Why do you read books?
I love reading books for two reasons: firstly, to enter a totally different world and secondly, when I need to know how to do something.
How often do you read books?
Almost everyday.
What type of reader are you? Slow or fast?
I think I'm a fast reader, although I'm not as fast as some of my friends! Sometimes too, I'll just skim through a book if I'm referencing it for some information.
Do you like fiction? Non-fiction? Both?
I love fiction and non-fiction. I love a well-written biography, self-help books, educational books, etc.
What is(are) your favorite genre(s)?
Christian romance, suspense/thrillers, historical romance.
Do you read to your kids?
I definitely do.
How often do you read to them? When? At bedtime? During the day?
I read to them as often as possible. For my 3 yr old, I read to him mostly at bedtime and I read to my 10 month old during the day.
How old were your kids when you started reading to them?
I don't remember when I started reading to my son but he must have been a few months old.
Why do you read to your kids?
I read somewhere that reading to kids at an early age encourages them to speak early. In addition, they build a wide vocabulary and develop good language skills!

Do folks not read anymore? The writer, Angelique, challenges parents to read to their parents, starting out with at least once a week. I totally agree!
Reading and growing older The writer discusses the option of digital reading but hopes that printed books will remain for time to come. To be honest, I don't really like reading e-books. If you asked me to choose between a printed book and an e-book, I'd go for the former!
